Covid-19 Update

This policy has been written based on current guidelines. It outlines modifications to our normal procedures due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It is not known at this time whether these procedures are temporary or whether they will become part of future practice.

The worldwide Covid-19 pandemic is still being evaluated and guidelines are likely to change in line with new evidence over time.

We would like to thank all of our patients for their patience during the temporary practice closure and for their understanding and cooperation whilst we implement the new measures in the practice.

We will continue to provide dental care to all our patients in the safest environment possible.

We may request that all patients attending the practice for a prearranged appointment complete their medical history update form and a Covid-19 prescreening form via our website.

It should be remembered that a dental practice is already a very clean environment and there is no evidence of Covid-19 transmission occuring in increased rates in dental staff.

Please be assured that all our clinical team will be fully complying with updated protocols to ensure we reduce the risk of cross infection in both directions.

If you feel you are at risk of having been infected, even if you are asymptomatic,we respectfully ask you delay booking an appointment for at least one month. We recommend that high risk patients delay non-essential dental treatment for as long as possible.

We would recommend when travelling to the practice that you limit your contact with other members of the public as much as possible. We ask you to arrive at your allocated appoinment time. One adult is able to attend with a child or vunerable person. Please do not take other members of the family with you unless they are happy to wait outside in the car.

We will take your temperature with a no-touch thermometer. If your temperature is more than 37.6,you will be unable to enter the practice and will be asked to return home to self isolate as per current government guidelines.

We intend to minimize waiting room times and time spent at reception.Appointment times and clinical rooms have been staggered to avoid too many people being in the building at any given time.

We will ask you to use the hand sanitizer at reception before entering the waiting /clinical areas and again ,following your treatment.

We have removed magazines and newspapers, leaflets etc and our WC is currently not in use.

All clinical areas and common areas including door handles and surfaces will be regularly disinfected in addition to our normal surface cleaning protocols between patients.

We will be providng fallow time (current guidelines of 1 hr) after any aerosol generating proceedures.

All dental staff will be using PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in line with current guidelines.

During Aerosol Generating Procedures eg Fillings,Scalings, the Dentist or Hygienist will wear Level 2 PPE which includes Steath masks. These masks filter 99.9% bacteria and viruses in both directions and protect patient to clinician and clinician to patient. We also use high volume suction,Full face visors,Surigal gowns etc for further protection against air borne particles.

We trust these measures will keep everyone safe and give you peace of mind.We look forward to looking after your dental needs in the future and thank you for your support.

Stay safe!
